From Zero to AI Call Center by Chatting
This guide takes you from no account to an AI agent that answers your phone. You will type requests into a chat panel; the Daber AI assistant does the building. Each step has a prompt you can copy and change to fit your business.
Before you start
You need an email address and a short description of your business, or its website. That's it. No developer, no phone hardware, no card until you put the agent on a real phone line.
Step 1: Create your workspace
Go to daber.ai and sign up. If you give your website or a few sentences about the business, Daber AI drafts a first agent for you while you confirm your email: a greeting, instructions, and the answers it found to common questions, saved as drafts for you to check.
You are the admin of the new workspace, which is what the assistant needs.
Step 2: Open the assistant
In the dashboard, click AI Assistant at the top right, or press ⌘J / Ctrl+J. A panel opens on the right. It stays open while you move between pages, so you can ask for a change and watch it happen.
Start by asking where you stand:
What do I have in this workspace so far, and what's the next thing to set up?
Step 3: Build or shape the agent
If a first agent was drafted at signup, refine it. If not, ask for one:
Create a phone receptionist for Bright Smile Dental in Austin. It answers in English and Spanish, books cleanings and check-ups, answers questions about insurance and opening hours, and transfers emergencies to the front desk at +1 512 555 0142.
Then adjust it the way you would brief a new hire:
Make the greeting shorter. Don't mention prices; say the front desk will confirm them. Always repeat the appointment time back before ending the call.
The assistant rewrites the agent's instructions. Each save is a new version, so you can roll back from Version history if you prefer an earlier one.
Step 4: Give it your answers
Your agent should answer from your facts, not guess. Paste what you have:
Add these as answers for the agent: We're open Monday to Friday 8–6 and Saturday 9–1. We accept Delta Dental, Cigna and Aetna. New patients should arrive 15 minutes early. Parking is free behind the building.
Longer material works too: paste the text of your FAQ or policy page and ask it to split it into answers. They land as drafts. Read them, then:
Approve all the drafts you just added and make sure the receptionist uses them on calls.
That last part matters: on phone calls an agent uses only the answers attached to it, and the assistant takes care of attaching them.
Step 5: If you have a call script, turn it into a flow
Many businesses already have a script: how to greet, what to ask, what to say to common objections. Paste it:
Here's the script our front desk uses. Turn it into a call flow for the receptionist and link it.
The assistant builds the steps and the branches between them, checks that every path ends properly, and tells you if something is missing.
Step 6: Test it
Ask for a test conversation and read how the agent handled it:
Run a test conversation where a caller wants to move their Thursday cleaning to next week and asks if you take Cigna.
Then hear it yourself: open the agent and call it from your browser. Browser testing is free, up to 30 test minutes. If something sounds wrong, describe it:
When I asked about Saturday it said you're closed. Fix that.
Step 7: Put it on a real phone line
When you're happy, use the button in the dashboard to start: $3 for a 14-day launch with 30 call minutes, then the Starter plan at $49 a month unless you cancel. Then get a phone number for the agent. Self-serve numbers are US and Canada for now.
This step is a button you click, not something the assistant does for you: it involves your card, and we think that decision should be yours alone.
Step 8: Keep improving
Once real calls come in, use the assistant to look back:
Show me this week's calls where the caller asked for a person. What were they asking about?
Draft an improvement to the instructions based on those calls, and show me the before and after.
Anything that would cost money or reach someone, like placing a call or launching a campaign, waits for you to click Approve. Every change is logged in Audit under your name.
