Get your phone calls in Slack, the moment they matter
When a caller needs a person, the agent posts who called, what they need and how to reach them, in the channel your team already watches.
The short answer
Can an AI receptionist send call alerts to Slack?
Yes. Daber AI connects to Slack through Slack's official MCP server. During or right after a call, the phone agent can post a message to a channel or a person: an urgent escalation, a hand-off with what the caller needs and how to reach them, or a short note about the call. It can also search messages the connected Slack account can see. The recording, transcript and full summary of every call stay in Daber AI.
What the agent can do in Slack
Slack's MCP server lets an app search a workspace and send messages to any type of conversation. Daber AI uses it so the agent can tell your team about a call without anyone watching a dashboard.
- Escalations: an urgent call posted to an on-call channel straight away, with the caller's name, number and problem.
- Hand-offs: when the agent can't finish something, it posts what the caller wants and what it already collected, so nobody calls back to ask again.
- Call notes: a short message after calls you care about, such as every new lead or every complaint.
- Search: look up messages the connected account can see, if your process needs it.
What you need to connect Slack
A Slack workspace and a Slack account to connect with. Slack sends these messages on behalf of the account that signed in, and its docs say workspace admins can approve and manage MCP client integrations, so your admin may need to approve the connection first.
- 1Pick the channel the alerts go to, and make sure the account you'll connect with is a member of it.
- 2In Daber AI, add Slack from the tools you can connect, sign in to Slack and approve access. If your workspace requires it, ask an admin to approve.
- 3Test the connection and turn Slack on for the agent.
- 4Write in the agent's instructions exactly when to post and to which channel: for example, every emergency to the on-call channel, every new lead to the sales channel.
- 5Make a test call in your browser and watch the message arrive.
An example call
At 11 p.m. a tenant calls a property management company: water is coming through the ceiling. The agent's instructions treat leaks as emergencies. It takes the unit number, a callback number and what's happening, tells the tenant to shut off the water if they can, and posts to the on-call channel: unit 4B, active leak from the ceiling, tenant at home, callback number attached. The on-call manager sees it on their phone and calls the tenant back within minutes.
Slack message or live transfer?
A Slack post tells someone. A transfer puts them on the line. Use both where it matters.
| Situation | Better choice |
|---|---|
| Someone is available to take the call now | Transfer to a person, then post a note |
| After hours, someone on call | Post to the on-call channel and promise a callback |
| A routine request that can wait | A note in the channel, or nothing: the call summary is in Daber AI |
Where it stops
Slack is a notification path, not a phone line. Keep these limits in mind:
- A post doesn't guarantee anyone reads it. For true emergencies during staffed hours, set a transfer to a person too.
- The agent posts only when its instructions say so. Write the rules down; it won't guess which calls matter to you.
- Messages appear as the connected Slack account, and the agent can only reach channels that account can.
- Recordings and transcripts aren't copied into Slack. They stay in Daber AI with each call.
Questions
Who do the messages come from?
Slack sends them on behalf of the account that connected. You can connect with an account set aside for alerts, so it's obvious the message came from the phone agent.
Does my Slack admin need to approve it?
Possibly. Slack says workspace admins can approve and manage MCP client integrations. If your workspace requires approval, the connection waits until an admin allows it.
Can it post a note for every call?
It can, but most teams don't want that much noise. Post the calls someone has to act on, and read the rest in Daber AI, where every call has a recording, transcript and summary.
Can someone in Slack take over the call?
Not from Slack. To get a person on the line, set a transfer in the agent's instructions; the agent can transfer the call and post the details at the same time.
