Every lead gets a call, your reps get only the relevant ones
The agent calls within minutes, runs the qualification questions, and bridges to a rep only when it is worth it.
The short answer
How do you qualify leads by phone without burning your salespeople's time?
You put an AI agent on the first step: the moment a lead lands — from a form, a CRM or a list — the system dials it within minutes, and the agent runs a qualification call from your script, asks the screening questions, captures every answer as a field, and handles objections from an approved knowledge base. A lead that meets the criteria gets a meeting or is bridged live to a salesperson; one that does not is marked with a reason, so you can see exactly why. With Daber AI every such call ends with a summarised activity written to Salesforce or HubSpot, carrying the transcript, sentiment and captured fields — so your reps walk into a conversation they already know something about.
How it works
- 1A new lead lands from a form, a CRM or a list, and a call is queued with one API request
- 2The agent dials within minutes using your caller ID and opens per the script
- 3The qualification questions are asked in order, and each answer is stored as a field on the lead
- 4Objections are answered from the approved knowledge base, and the call returns to the node it was on
- 5Qualified: a meeting is booked, or the lead is bridged live to a salesperson — extension included — on the same call
- 6An unqualified lead is marked with a reason, and a summarised activity is written to the CRM with transcript and sentiment
Especially for
Speed of response is most of the game
A lead who left their details keeps shopping elsewhere, and the gap between calling within minutes and calling the next day is usually the gap between a conversation and an unanswered message. The problem is that this kind of speed is hard to sustain with a human team: it needs someone always available, at six in the evening and while everyone is in meetings. An agent solves exactly that — a single API request the moment the lead lands queues a call, and dialling starts immediately. If the lead does not answer, the retry policy keeps trying up to the cap you set, instead of the lead going cold.
A script that cannot be skipped
The difference between a good qualification call and a mediocre one is usually whether all the questions got asked. Your sales script — the opening, the discovery questions, the objection handling, the close — becomes a runnable flow, and branching inside it is decided by the engine rather than the model. Practically: no call ever "forgets" to ask about budget, timeline or who makes the decision, every answer is stored as a field, and if a side question comes up the agent answers it and returns to the same node. You can paste your existing script document and get the first version of the tree from it.
- Qualification questions in a fixed order, with mandatory fields
- Objection handling from an approved knowledge base, not improvisation
- Deterministic branching — "if budget is under X, take the other path"
- You can see in real time which node a live call is sitting on
A live bridge instead of "we'll get back to you"
When a qualified lead is on the line and interested right now, the worst thing you can do is promise a call back. The agent can bridge: the system dials the salesperson — a PBX extension included — joins them to the same call, and steps out. Your rep gets a live conversation with context, not a row in a list. If nobody is available, the agent continues the script and books a meeting so the call does not end empty, and either way an activity is written to the CRM with the transcript and captured fields.
What comes back into your systems
At the end of every call a summarised activity is written into Salesforce or HubSpot, linked to the lead or contact, and it can be assigned to an owner by email so the rep gets notified. In parallel a signed webhook fires to any other system you want. What lands is not just "answered / not answered" but the summary, sentiment, disqualification reason and captured fields — which is what lets you answer the question that matters: which lead sources produce good conversations, and which objection keeps coming back.
When an agent will not improve your leads
Automation amplifies what exists. A bought cold list, where nobody expects a call, will produce more calls and more complaints — not more deals. A complex sale where the discovery call is genuine consulting does not belong at this stage, and there the value is limited to booking the meeting and gathering background. Two more things worth stating plainly: responsibility for consent, suppression lists and calling hours sits with the business — the system provides the record and a do-not-contact flag, but it does not replace a policy; and in regulated fields, what may be said on a sales call has to be written into the script up front.
Frequently asked
How quickly does the agent call a new lead?
The call is queued the moment the lead lands, with a single API request from the form or the CRM, and dialling starts right after, subject to the calling windows you defined. If the lead arrived outside your approved hours, the call waits for the next window instead of dialling at an inappropriate time. A lead that does not answer enters the retry policy with a cap you set.
How do we define what counts as a qualified lead?
In the flow: you decide which questions are asked, which fields are mandatory, and the rule that separates the "qualified" path from the "not qualified" one. Branching is executed by the engine rather than left to the model's judgement, so the definition stays consistent across every call. Changing the rule is an edit on the tree, saved as a version you can roll back to.
Do the calls sync with our CRM?
Salesforce and HubSpot are supported directly: a summarised activity is written and linked to the lead or contact, carrying the summary, sentiment and outcome, and it can be assigned to an owner by email. For any other system, the signed webhook carries the same information and lets you write it wherever you want. The other direction is simpler still: any system that can make an HTTP request can place a call.
Don't leads get put off by talking to a system?
What puts people off is a call that sounds like a recording: a pause at the start, a menu, and no ability to react to what was said. Here the agent speaks immediately, stops when interrupted, answers side questions and hands off to a person the moment it is asked. We recommend being transparent in the opening — it sets expectations, and the calls that continue past it are with people who are willing to talk anyway.
